20 UNDER 40 AWARDS

The Republic and Columbus Young Professionals (CYP) are accepting nominations from the public for the 20 Under 40 awards. These awards seek to recognize Columbus’ top 20 emerging business and community leaders under the age of 40.
Nominees for the award should have made a significant contribution through community involvement, professional accomplishments, and demonstrated leadership ability. Nominations should be a one-page description of why you think nominee should be selected with a focus on career achievement to-date, commitment to excellence in career, leadership within company and/or industry, involvement in community activities, and leadership in community organizations. Nominees should be 39 years old or younger as of May 16, 2013 and live or work in Bartholomew County.
20 Under 40 recipients will receive their award at the CYP Annual Meeting on Thursday, May 16th at Factory 12 Event Loft, starting at 5:30PM.

Nominations for 20 Under 40 should be submitted no later than 5:00PM on Wednesday, April 3rd. Nominations will be accepted via email mail or personal. A selection committee will consider all nominations and determine award recipients. Please submit nominations to:

CYP HOLIDAY PARTY

Thursday, December 13 from 7:00-10:00 @ Phi Bar, Hotel Indigo: You’re invited! Join us in celebrating the holiday season and the end of another great year with CYP. Mix and mingle with other young professionals at Hotel Indigo’s Phi Bar.
Free appetizers, drink specials, fabulous prizes, mixing & mingling. All young professionals and friends of CYP are welcome. Festive attire suggested.

CHEER FUND VOLUNTEER DAY

Saturday, December 8 from 10:00am-1:00pm @ United Way Center:Get in the holiday spirit this Second Saturday as we volunteer with The Cheer Fund! The Cheer Fund is coordinated by the City of Columbus Firemen, and their success depends on volunteer contributions to reach a monetary goal for the purchase of new toys, food, and clothing for underprivileged children in Bartholomew County. Join CYP as we help The Cheer Fund with toy sorting, boxing, cleaning and refurbishing used toys.

IDENTITY THEFT: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW, BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE

Wednesday, December 5th, from 12:00-1:00PM at Columbus Visitors Center: Larry Nunn & Associates invites members and friends of CYP to attend a free information session about identity theft. Come enjoy a FREE lunch and learn about identity theft, your risk, how to detect a problem, and what to if your personal information is compromised. You can’t afford to miss this session.

• Identity theft is when someone uses your personal information, such as your name and Social Security number or credit card number, without your permission, to commit fraud or other crimes.
• As many as 10 million Americans have their identities stolen each year.
• Young adults aged 20-39 collectively made up 45% of all identity theft victims in 2010.

Thursday, November 15, from 7:00pm-9:00pm @ The Garage: Join us for karaoke night! Each Third Thursday of the month Columbus Young Professionals hosts drinks and networking at a local bar or restaurant. This is our most laid back event and is always a great time. Like all our events Third Thursday is open to both members and non-members, newcomers are encouraged to attend. The mixer game start around 8:00 pm so make sure you arrive in time!

CYP DOES ARCHITECTURE

Saturday 11/10 at 9:30 @ Columbus Visitors Center – Don’t miss this Second Saturday as we take a break from volunteering to learn about our community. Join other YP’s for a tour of Columbus’s world renowned architecture!

Register here for the 10:00 tour on 11/10, cost is $20. Arrive at 9:30 for the must-see video. On this tour, you will see dozens of modernist buildings designed by the likes of Eero Saarinen, I.M. Pei, Richard Meier and Harry Weese. Visitors enter the interiors of two buildings as part of this tour. Spaces are limited and will fill quickly – so register today!

PUMPKIN CARVING PARTY

Sunday, October 21st from 4:00-6:00 pm, Hosted by Brian Small & the CYP Community Committee: We’ll bring the pumpkins, you bring the creativity. Our jack-o’-lanterns will be featured in CYP’s pumpkin patch at the Advocate’s for Children’s Night of a Thousand Jacks carving contest & fundraiser. Cost to enter is $7/CYP members $10/non-members.

Bring your beverage of choice carving tools. We will provide pumpkins then transport them to Night of a Thousand Jacks on Saturday, October 27th.
